The relationship between Benson and Mike, two young guys who live together in Houston, had me curious to see how it would all shake out. Mike is a Japanese American chef at a Mexican restaurant, and Benson is a Black daycare teacher. They've been together for a few years and things seem to be 'fine', but sometimes that adjective is the kiss of death for a relationship. Mike's father is dying in Japan, and he goes to be with him just as his mother is coming to visit. He leaves Benson in a confusing and open-ended situation in more ways than one. By blood and choice, a story of family and how both can surprise you when push comes to shove.
