The Irish Goodbye
I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Beth Ann and talking about her new collection of short stories recently at Ladybird. The former Mississippi Poet Laureate has heart, humor, and intellect in spades, and all of this and more is on display in Irish Goodbye. She floats across themes such as loss, and she’s had her fair share: a sibling, a parent, and a mother-in-law who was a literal walking angel. She writes about motherhood, family, and marriage with such vulnerability that it puts you firmly back at the heart of your own life. This is a collection to be cherished, and this is me, shouting my praises from the rooftop.
