Yesteryear

I loved this book, which felt a bit like a psychological thriller. Natalie is a trad wife, married to a wealthy, handsome cowboy on a farm called Yesteryear, with a whole brood of children, only to wake up in the actual 1800s, which is her literal nightmare. At the same time, we are trying to figure out what on earth has happened. Is this ordained by God? Is it some kind of Truman Show situation, created for ratings?

It's a sharp satire of trad wife culture, which many may not relate to directly, but what does hit is the gap between what we present on social media and our real lives. Peeling back the layers of who this couple is and how they ended up here is fascinating, and the ending, oh my God. There is a reason everyone is talking about it and will be for a long time to come.

I've heard it's being adapted into a film starring Anne Hathaway as Natalie, which sounds amazing. And we love a debut author, so let's celebrate this huge success. Caro Claire Burke came out of the gates swinging!
