Swan Song

This is the book I didn’t know the world needed until it arrived, and I’m so glad. Everyone (of a certain age, anyway) remembers where they were when Princess Diana died. I was in a hotel room with a dear friend, Alice, and her mother before a James Taylor concert. Diana captivated our hearts, and something about her felt so accessible even though, as Princess of Wales, she stood on the highest pedestal. Her brother, Charles, gives incredible insight into her learning challenges in school, their parents’ divorce, and what it was like inside the royal family and a marriage to a real son of a bitch, Prince Charles. The New York Times calls it “A brotherly tribute to the People’s Princess, no holds barred . . . Full of love and vengeance.”
